Monthly Archives: July 2011

Whew…what a week. It’s been busy, but at least it’s the weekend…….and it’s a holiday weekend so no work on Monday! Woohoo :-) It’s time to get busy in the garden because we’ve got loads of these fellas! They are great fun though.

Mr Blue Sky

going...

...going....

...gone!

I’m linking up with Macro Friday again, so check out the other entries. This was my favourite shot.

Dandelion

Have a great weekend! :-D

I’ve saved the best for last. I really wanted to see the meerkat clan. I’ve spoken constantly about them since they had babies. There was a point in the day when I thought we wouldn’t see them because they disappeared underground, but they came up again and didn’t disappoint! They are just so cute :-)

Wonder what's over here?

Let's go over here...

Children playing!

Look at me!

I wonder what's up here?

Turns out, not much!

Wow! This FreshlyPressed business is crazy! Jamie Dedes wrote some history of Fota on her blog, so anyone who wants more information about the wildlife park can check it out here!

The monkeys at Fota are so cool! Some have an island all to themselves and some of the smaller ones hang out in the trees with the parrots all around the park!

Isn't my reflection lovely?

Swinging!

Dunno if I feel like coming out today

Yesterday’s post on birds at Fota was Freshly Pressed! Very exciting! :-) I reckon the penguins did it-they’re just so cute.

Anyway, today I bring you some four-legged friends! Starting with the buffalo. These guys are across from the giraffes. Friendly too :-)  I know for some of you buffalo aren’t that unusual, but you don’t see them too often in Cork.

Don't mess with me!

Along with the giraffe, zebra, ostrich and emu, there are onyx. So pretty.

There are mara just hanging out all over the park. It was a humid day, so we saw them lying under trees a lot.

Also reacting to the heat were the kangaroos with the little baby joey. They weren’t up to much, just eating away.

Little Joey

Something interesting over there?

One of my favourite animals to see were the cheetah because I just love cats. These guys are too big, so i think we could manage one in the back garden…… ;-) Plus, the baby one reminded me of Mike with his spiky hair! Obviously, they’re not as free to raom as the other animals, but they have three different areas to run around.

And finally, this guy was so cute munching away on the grass, and really close to us too!

Thank you WordPress for putting my blog on Freshly Pressed! :-) Yay!!!! Some of you were asking where this is. I put a link up to the website on a previous post, but here it is again. It’s Fota Wildlife Park in Cork, Ireland.

Yesterday I gave you the giraffes and zebras, so today I’m giving you some of the birds! Obviously, seeing as it’s a wildlife park and birds fly around, they are all over the place. Here are some of them!

The ostrich and emu wander around the place. These ones were near the zebras and giraffes, but they could just as easily walk out on the path in front of you!

Ostrich and emu

Big Bird!

There are six ostrich chicks too, but they were too far away to get any shots of them and there are some eggs in the incubation room too!

Peahen

They have two pairs of black swans and one pair have chicks. So fluffy!

Penguins

Look at me!

I’ve no idea why there is a mirror behind the flamingos, but hey…!

Flamingos

Gonna get me some dinner!

This was the closest I could get to a parrot. I was walking along and just looked up and there he was!

'Allo 'Allo!

Pretty Polly!
