Monthly Archives: May 2012

While the rest of the country is basking is sun and temperatures in the high 20s, we’ve got sea fog and mist. We did get threes sunny days and we made the most of them.

We had a bbq!

We went to the beach, even though the sun was gone.

If you look really hard, you can see a family on the left with hats and coats on! that’s how we roll in Ireland :-)

And I got my ice cream, which means it must be summer.

I got my ice cream!

Ailsa has once again provided us with a travel theme challenge. This week it’s Street Markets. Click to check out her lovely images!

Markets and Morocco go hand in hand, so picking one shot was difficult, but I like this one because the father is trying not to pose, but he ends up randomly waving some bread!

So, having already done Ailsa’s challenge of summer, WordPress have also picked it for this weeks’ themeThe good weather has actually arrived, so I hope to have some nice sunny shots to post during the week. For now, here’s one I took last year in Lanzarote.

Lanzarote

I actually took these shots on Sunday in Kinsale, but I’m only getting around to posting them now cos it’s been a busy week. The summer actually arrived today-woo hoo! Fingers crossed it lasts for the weekend.

Kinsale has a lot of colourful signs and I’m going to go back and do another post on them, but for the moment, here are a few of my favourites.

Stone Mad! Lovely shop.

Guinness is good, Murphy’s is better, but Beamish is best!

Sú Bar (sú is Irish for juice) Check out the ET joke!

Ailsa has once again given us another challenge. This week it’s Summer. Check out the other entries and comments, and her own lovely photos here!

I had to think about this for a couple of days. Would I post some lovely sunny photos from different countries or not. Summer is obviously the best season…..it’s sunny, people are on holidays, you don’t need a coat…right? It would be right if i didn’t live in Ireland and have a job that is busiest in the summer, meaning I can’t take holidays. Despite all that though, summer really is my favourite season. When it’s sunny here, it’s the nicest place in the world. A few of you have been asking my header photo. It was taken in Achill two years ago. We were so lucky to get 3 sunny days in a row. The original post with more shots is here.

Summer is about grabbing the bits of sun where you can and going to the beach on a Sunday like this just because it’s not raining!

Going to the beach at 8pm because the evening improved after work!

And stopping to watch a sunset like this on the way home.

But, summer really starts when you have the first 99 ice-cream of the year! The chocolate didn’t last long enough for the photo.

First 99 of the year!

I haven’t had one yet this year, but I hear it might be 18 degrees C later on in the week. I’m a little sceptical, it was 11 degrees C yesterday and I had my winter coat, hat and gloves on, so fingers crossed for later in the week!
